Western Leaders May Condemn Israel, but Their Militaries Are Learning from It

Democracies must replace this dissonance with strategic clarity.

Greece and Cyprus are not the only countries engaged in behind-the-scenes military cooperation with Israel, although they may be providing more active assistance then most. But publicly, with the exception of the United States, the message from Western heads of state is almost uniform: the IDF’s conduct of the war in Gaza is excessive, Israel must do more to help Gazan civilians, and every new move is a dangerous escalation.
