Why Iranians Are Risking Their Lives to Defy Their Rulers

There is a chance that, by the time you read this, the U.S. will have already launched airstrikes on Iran. Of course, there is also a chance that no such military action will take place at all. What is certain is that the Islamic Republic is still killing people; a judicial execution took place as recently as last Friday, and regime forces have been executing prisoners without trial as well as murdering wounded protesters in hospitals—all of which seems to cross President Trump’s red lines. Nonetheless, the protest movement itself has not yet been extinguished.
