Syria’s Instability Is Unlikely to Spill Over into Jordan

Despite Iran’s best efforts.

To some observers, the fall of Bashar al-Assad is a victory against a thoroughly evil dictatorship by a populace desiring to be free of tyranny and a blow to Iran’s “axis of resistance.” To others, it is a victory of jihadist insurgents against a long-established Arab regime. The truth of the matter is that it is both these things at once. But for those of the latter view, it seems as if it could set a precedent for the Islamist overthrow of other governments—like the Jordanian monarchy, for instance.
