John Irving’s Zionist Novel

Queen Esther.

Known today for such works as The World According to Garp and The Cider House Rules (and their film adaptations), John Irving is considered one of the major authors post-World War II America. His most recent novel, Queen Esther, concerns a Jewish orphan taken in by a Gentile family and her son Jimmy. Ben Felsenburg writes in his review:
