How Israel Can Secure Its Northern Border against Hizballah

Learning from past mistakes.

Bad as the fall of Maduro is for Iran, the loss of Hizballah, its most important proxy, would be even worse. Yesterday, the IDF struck a series of Hamas and Hizballah targets in southern Lebanon, after issuing evacuation warnings to local civilians. Israel has carried out hundreds of such strikes since the November 2024 cease-fire, aimed primarily at interfering with Hizballah’s efforts to rearm and rebuild. But an informal December 31 deadline for the disarmament of the Iran-backed terrorist groups has now passed, and it seems increasingly likely another confrontation will occur.
