Weeping for the Jews in the Tortosa Cathedral

After years of spending the fast of Tisha b’Av in Jerusalem, and finding it difficult to summon the appropriate emotions, the scholar Frank Talmage decided one year to spend it in Catalonia. Describing this pilgrimage in a 1981 essay, he recounted his visit to the Cathedral of Tortosa:
