Unearthing a Building Incinerated during the Babylonian Siege of Jerusalem

A 2,500-year-old case of arson.

Last week, Jews the world over commemorated the destruction of the First Temple, in 586 BCE, and the Second, in 70 CE. The same week, archaeologists published a study explaining how, using new scientific techniques, they determined that an ancient building was burned to the ground during the Babylonian capture of Jerusalem, which resulted in the first of those destructions.
