Israel for its part, responded to the sick proceedings in Gaza, and the withholding of Shiri Bibas’s body, by suspending the release of 602 Palestinian prisoners who were slated to be set free over the weekend. While Shiri Bibas’s remains were then returned quietly, the living hostages were handed over on Saturday in yet another sadistic ceremony. Hamas also brought two additional hostages, not slated for release, to witness the spectacle, and filmed them pleading for their freedom. Reportedly Jerusalem told mediators that it is willing to free the prisoners after the return of bodies of four other hostages later this week.
