Last month, the United Nations peacekeeping force in Lebanon (known as UNIFIL)—tasked with keeping the peace between Israel and Hizballah—made an uncharacteristically bold intervention. Peacekeepers trimmed trees in the no-man’s land on the Israeli side of the Israel-Lebanon border. The trees had been planted by an environmental nonprofit called Green Without Borders (GWB)—which is in fact a front for Hizballah—in order to obscure the IDF’s security cameras. While Jerusalem has repeatedly complained to the United Nations about GWB’s activities, little more has been done besides trimming a few trees, as Matthew Levitt and Samantha Stern explain:
