The 1929 Hebron Massacre and Its Eerie Familiarity

On August 23, 1929, Arabs attacked Jews in Jerusalem, the result of a campaign of incitement by the city’s grand mufti, Amin al-Husseini. From there, pogroms spread throughout Palestine. The worst was in Hebron, home to one of the oldest continuous Jewish communities in the Land of Israel. Thousands of local Arabs marched through the city, shouting “Slaughter the Jews!” and raping, mutilating, and murdering men, women, and children. Dan Senor speaks with Yardena Schwartz, author of a recent book on the subject, about the massacres and the evident parallels to the October 7 attacks. (Video, 59 minutes.
