Mahmoud Abbas Is Bluffing about Ending Security Cooperation with Israel

The PA leader's threats are empty.

The PLO central committee, the most important governing body within the Palestinian Authority (PA), recently announced a decision to end security cooperation with Israel in the West Bank. Mahmoud Abbas, too, has repeatedly threatened to take such action. But the PA has also declared that the committee’s decision is nonbinding and will not be implemented until after Israel’s March 17 elections. In other words, writes Yoni Ben Menachem, the move is just a bluff:
