Israel’s New Death-Penalty Law Is a Counterproductive Stunt

It won’t prevent hostage deals.

On Monday, the Internet’s anti-Israel outrage focused on a bill passed by the Knesset that mandates the death penalty or life imprisonment for non-citizens convicted of deadly acts of terror. Of course, the grotesque spectacle of Itamar Ben-Gvir, who championed the law, celebrating its passage with a bottle of champagne hardly makes a good impression.
