In Esoteric Discussions of Sacrifices, the Talmud Reveals Something about What It Means to Know God

Meal offerings and grasping the divine.

Those following the seven-year cycle of Talmud study known as daf yomi (the “daily page”) completed Tractate M’nahot (meal-offerings) on Friday. Its main subject is the offerings of flour—cooked into some sort of wafer or loaf—that accompanied, or sometimes substituted for, animal sacrifices in the Temple service. But, like any other tractate, it contains numerous and sometimes lengthy digressions.
