Among the most striking sights of the past few weeks was the scene of joyful Syrians celebrating the death of Hassan Nasrallah—under whose leadership Hizballah slaughtered so many thousands of their compatriots. Fifteen years ago, the idea of Arabs rejoicing after an Israeli airstrike killed an arch-terrorist would have been almost unimaginable. Nasrallah met his end before this conversation with the Syrian-born activist—and self-professed “recovered anti-Semite”—Rawan Osman was recorded, but it’s worth considering in light of the reactions to his death.
