By Turning a Blind Eye to Palestinian Corruption, the West Has Paved the Way for Hamas

Now intra-Palestinian fighting has returned to the West Bank.

In the West Bank, Palestinian Authority (PA) forces loyal to Mahmoud Abbas continue to fight Hamas and allied terrorist groups, killing a sixteen-year-old gunman yesterday. The PA has also banned Al Jazeera from areas under its control, due to the Qatari mouthpiece’s sympathy for Hamas. Khaled Abu Toameh suggests that both this conflict, and Hamas’s takeover of Gaza in 2007, can be blamed in large part on the PA’s corruption:
