In his recently published interview with the president, Jeffrey Goldberg relates how, during a one-on-one meeting in Washington, Israel’s prime minister began to describe the various dangers faced by Israel; the president then interjected that of course he understood Israel’s difficulties—he is an African-American who made it to the White House.
