What if his brothers didn’t sell him into slavery?
Everybody who knows the Bible knows that Joseph’s brothers sold him into slavery in Egypt. But a close look at the relevant passage leads to a great deal of confusion: there are Midianites, Ishmaelites, and Medanites involved in the transaction, and it is hardly clear who sold Joseph to whom and in what order. In conversation with Dru Johnson, Ari Lamm presents a novel reading of this passage, and from it an unexpected interpretation of the entire Joseph story and its moral meaning. (Video, 50 minutes.
